Work-Fuss: How to prepare for your first day at work

Welcome to this episode of work fuzz where we share with you all the hacks about work.

In the next few minutes, I will be sharing with you 5 things to consider when preparing for your first day at work.

This is one of the most important things to consider before appearing at your new job on your first day at work. Your preparation must cover all necessary information and processes including your knowledge about the organization and what is fit to wear.Failure to consider these things and even more, may distort your day.

Be there in time

Time is very essential here and you must consider it when thinking about how to prepare for your first day at work. It is fine if you show up on time. However, showing up in time may be the best because, it will allow you ease pressure as well as put yourself together for the day.

Relax and smile

It is very interesting how most people behave on their first day at work. Do not panic or frown or show any sign of fear. Be yourself and smile when needed. And of course, you should try and befriend one colleague on your first day at work.

Listen and observe

Be very smart and attentive to what goes on around you. Try to do more listening than talking because every new environment has it own norms and what you know may either be new or old to them. Do well to ask questions or clarifications where necessary.

Be yourself

It is said, “be yourself, everyone else is already taken”- Oscar Wilde.

Interestingly, most people act on their first day at work without realizing the consequences. It is good to do all the above mentioned but what matters most is being you. It is better to allow people realize who you really are than to have a facade. Let your colleague know when you are happy or angry about something. That way, they will appreciate you more and be guided on how to relate with you at work.

I hope this helps. Kindly drop your comments and let us get interactive. Thank you for showing up today.
